Industrialized and digital response

The 1st Congress of APPC (Associação Portuguesa de Projectistas e Consultores) was organized at Centro Cultural de Belém, where president Pedro Siza Vieira highlighted the current concerns of the business areas involved, with the need for real change.

At a time when significant investment is expected with a view to internal cohesion, the problem is clear: housing. Hundreds of thousands of homes will have to be built, based on sustainability and certification, where "The initial cost cannot be the determining factor... with the value placed on the entire life cycle of the building itself... The product will have to be more efficient as a finished product" (Construir, 2023).

The answer, followed by Urbibarra, will involve more industrialized and digital methods, as well as more global forms of contracting (a reality that is still distant for some companies). It is therefore necessary to invest in new knowledge and more qualified human resources.
