How to choose the ideal house

FPR EVERY STAGE OF LIFE

Choosing a house is much more than finding four walls and a roof. It's choosing the setting where life happens where routines are built, where memories are created and, above all, where the future is prepared.

1. First steps: freedom and mobility

At this stage, the house is often a point of departure not arrival. The priority is location, practicality and often cost. Being close to work, university and public transportation can make all the difference to time and quality of life.

The interior space may be smaller, but that’s rarely a problem_ the essential thing is that it’s functional, easy to maintain and has everything you need to live independently.

2. Life as a couple: room to grow

Moving houses as a couple is more than just sharing a space – it’s learning to live with different routines, different styles and rhythms that don’t always align. That’s why, at this stage, its essential that the house has enough space for both of you to live comfortably, together and with individual freedom.

Larger kitchens, cozy living rooms and, if possible, an extra room for an office, studio or future nursery are details that make all the difference.

3. Growing family: comfort and functionality

When there are children (or plans to have them), the house needs to adapt to the new dynamic. The number of rooms becomes a real concern, as does storage, the safety of spaces and ease of movement.

The surroundings also take on enormous weight: the quality of the schools, the nearby parks, the neighbours, the access. Everything counts when you want to create a peaceful, practical and safe family routine.

4. Retire in comfort: accessibility and peace of mind

With the arrival of retirement, the pace changes and the house must keep up. Looking for a home that facilitates mobility, is close to essential services and offers comfort in all seasons is essential. At this stage the ideal is to opt for practical and adaptable solutions: single-storey houses or those with an elevator, nearby leisure areas, good energy efficiency and of course a calm and safe environment.
